Rhonda Fraser Upholstery (Morecambe)

Quality upholstery - Modern and Traditional

Rhonda Fraser is well qualified and experienced and has been teaching upholstery and soft furnishings for more than 38 years. This includes teaching upholstery up to City and Guilds Diploma level. She has run classes privately since retiring from Lancaster and Morecambe College.

Tuesday - Heysham

18.30-21.00 - not every Tuesday

Wednesday - Heysham

Thursday - Silverdale

These sessions are open to people of all abilities. If you are new to upholstery I suggest you start with a small project such as a stool, dropin seat, dining chair or bedhead. You can then progress to armchairs in various styles. With some experience you can also do settees and chaise longues but please discuss these with me first so that we can arrange a suitable workspace. In the same way you can do curtains and roman blinds but only at Heysham when we can arrange space.

Work on furniture includes renovation of joints and finishes, replacement of springs where necessary, replacement of fillings either antique or modern, and finally fire retardant top quality fillings and coverings to comply with current legislation. Design concepts are covered by discussion about shape, fabrics and trimmings.

NOTE: There is no overnight storage space at Silverdale so you need to take your furniture away with you when you finish for the day. This does mean that you can continue with your project at home. Also there is no overnight storage space at Heysham unless you come for two consecutive days

Many students stay for the whole day and bring a packed lunch. Drinks are available all day.

The Heysham classes are held in my workshop with up to six students. The Silverdale classes are in the Parish room next to St John's Church with up to 12 students. There is ample parking at both venues. Students mainly come from the area from Garstang to Kendal - and stretching east to Kirkby Lonsdale. However some have come from as far as Warrington, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness. The classes are generally run weekly but you can request as many dates as you wish. It is important to book in advance especially if you have a large piece of furniture to upholster.
